2012 Pledge Drive

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who made 2011 a truly amazing year for the Seattle Buddhist Center! Your donations, involvement, energy and enthusiasm in the last year helped us to:
- Grow our sangha significantly. Regular Sangha Night attendance continues to increase and several of our community have chosen to deepen their commitment by becoming Mitras, requesting ordination, or joining our inspiring and talented crew of volunteers. Our sangha is the most vibrant and healthy it's been in many years!
- Broaden our Sangha Night and class offerings. Our Sangha Nights have benefited from a more intentional approach and participants have enjoyed the voyage around the Three Jewels that we have taken this year. In addition, weÕve been able to run a number of day retreats as well as taking part in the 2011 week-long Urban Retreat.
- Host more visiting Order Members than in years past, allowing us to benefit from their wisdom and experience and be exposed to different voices and perspectives.
And we have big plans for 2012! In addition to our regular menu of offerings, we hope to take our collective practice deeper through:
- Establishing a quarterly schedule of visiting Order Members, making these visits more intentional and integrated into our program. This will allow us to nourish these relationships and build more continuity of connection, further fostering a sense of the interconnected, international nature of the Triratna Buddhist Community.
- Offering more retreats, including a combined residential retreat with our Vancouver Sangha. In this way we can provide opportunities for a deeper experience of practice and more time to connect with one another.
- Founding a Scholarship Fund which will contribute towards the cost of residential retreats for those who are struggling financially.
We need your help to make these things happen! Our center is entirely volunteer-run and all of our expenses are met through pledges, donations and revenue from classes.
Monthly pledges are especially helpful as they enable us to budget more effectively. In 2011 pledges ranged from $15 to $250 per month. Donations are tax deductible. We are registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
